Before the session, I am with you Every. Single. Step of the way to make sure you feel beautiful and relaxed. My goal is to take the pressure off of you so you can relax and make some beautiful memories with your family!
I'll send you "all-the-things" for your big day - location ideas, outfit inspo, you name it!
the Big Day
All you need to do is show up looking sharp and let me handle the rest. We will have fun together as you play, snuggle, and dance with your family! Maternity and family sessions last approximately one hour, and newborn sessions last approximately 1.5 hours.

Gallery Delivery
After your session, I curate a gallery of proofs of the very best images from your session. You choose your favorites, and let me handle the rest.
Within three weeks, I will email you a link to a private, password-protected gallery for you to download all your high-resolution images in both color and black and white.

Lifestyle photography is a blend of posed and candid shots…I like to take a handful of everyone looking at the camera and smiling shots, and the rest are of you interacting with your family. I like to think of the sessions as “directed not posed”—I will give you instructions on where to stand and how to put your hands (why is it that the instant cameras come out we forget how to use our hands?!) and something to do, but I capture that natural moments that unfold after that direction occurs. Often my favorite moments to capture are truly candid—mamas interacting with their littles when they don’t think anyone Is watching.
The earlier, the better especially for the coveted fall (aka holiday card) slots. I recommend scheduling at least a month before a session for spring and summer and at least two months before a session for the fall.
Preparing kids (and husbands sometimes) for a session requires a Goldilocks approach: not too little prep, not too much. They need to know that they are going to a photo session where they will “get to” (not have to) dress up and hang out with “your friend Erin/insert photographer’s name here.” Tell them we will smile and play and dance and have fun and get a treat after. Beyond that, no prep necessary. I find that practicing smiling results in terrible fake smiles. And threatening kids to “be good” for the session or else sets them up to expect that it will be terrible. I try hard to keep things fun and fast for kiddos who might not love a photo session, so anything you can do to set the expectation for FUN helps make it awesome!
This is a big one. The number one rule is to complement not match the members of your family. To help you with this, I give you a style guide that shows different color palettes and even links to great spots should you want to purchase something new for your session. Besides the obvious (don’t show up naked), I also remind clients to remember their hands and feet. Shoes will show up in many of the photos as will your mani. Above all, I'm here to help, and I LOVE to help play stylist!
That’s okay. My kids aren’t always smiling, and I cherish photos of all their many emotive faces. While I make every effort to get smiles, I’m much more interested in authenticity…real interactions between kids and parents almost always result in grins or giggles. And even if a grin doesn’t happen, we are still capturing a moment in time and that is what matters.
